I was so busy last week on my so-called vacation. I tried to mix in some fun stuff, too. Here’s the list and I’m proud to say that I crossed everything off!
Repotted houseplants, cleaned out kitchen and bathroom cupboards, cleaned my clothes closet, took a carload of stuff to Helping Hands, cleaned off bookshelves, cleaned up the craft room (aka crap room)…although you can’t really tell it, Josh cleaned out his toy box, had a funeral for a baby cardinal that showed up on the back porch and didn’t make it, took a trunkload of books, games and puzzles to the Friendly Bookstore, cleaned the baseboards, went to Arts Center of the Ozarks to see the local elementary school exhibit, went to the library (twice), got a haircut, went to see exhibit at Crystal Bridges at the Massey, hiked to Crystal Bridges construction site from Compton Gardens, saw Alice in Wonderland 3D, cleaned the bathroom, saw Diary of a Wimpy Kid, did some watercolor paintings with Josh, watched some basketball games, did some paintings in acrylic, watched the new LOST and FlashForward episodes. Whew. I need a vacation!
Here’s a sketch of this week’s list. Click image to enlarge.
Anything that will make a mark on paper makes me happy. All
these things take me back to a simpler time in my life. I still get a huge
thrill from a blank piece of paper and some crayons. It’s how I meditate, I
suppose. I concentrate on nothing but the lines and color I make on the paper.
Try it sometime when you’re feeling a little stressed. There’s nothing like coloring to make things all better.
Today, my work group in KC is having a holiday party. Since I’m four hours away and can’t join them, I plan to have my own little party!! At lunch, I’m going to head over to Crystal Bridges at the Massey to see the current exhibit. Then I may head home to do some sketching. I’ve been so busy working during the day and wrapping presents at night that I haven’t taken the time to “color” lately. Sounds like a good idea!!
It’s coming. Not a big fan of winter. I hate wearing five layers of clothing just to keep warm (and I’m talking about while I’m IN the house!!) Today, it’s only 45 degrees outside. I can’t bear to think of how it will be in January! Ugh.
I’m looking forward to next week. I’m off work the whole week!! My cheapjoes order arrived yesterday. I’m set for paint and canvases for a while. Now if inspiration will hit, I’ll have a great week off!
In the mean time, some sketches to amuse you. I like to do quick 2 minute sketches just for practice.
No, I didn’t draw all these
tiny lines. This is the inside of two different security envelopes. Junk mail
makes great collage material.
